Australia continues to have a high demand for skilled personnel across a wide range of occupations. The resources boom is gathering momentum and skill shortages are already evident, particularly in areas where vast infrastructure projects are already underway. The range of occupations spreads across all areas of engineering and building and construction and includes professional and tradespersons.

These vast infrastructure projects are also creating skill shortages for additional occupations, including finance, IT,  Science and services occupations. DSS closely   monitors the trends in employment opportunities and works closely with the industries where skill shortages are most prevalent.
